Sacred World …

I’ve updated my artist statement and there’s one part that I’m focusing on, at the very end, that means more than all the flowery rhetoric.  It says:

“I hope my artistic portrayal of one person’s ordinary life brings an awareness to the viewer that leads to thoughts and actions protecting the radically changing but still sacred world we live so precariously within.”

I added this because I can’t stop thinking about climate change.  A book I’m currently reading said something like:: if the world is burning, then what is the purpose of poetry?  I feel like the world is burning… and flooding and generally getting harder to live in so I have to ask myself: What is the purpose of my art?  If it isn’t working towards saving the world, this world that's currently burning, then it is useless.  I need to be a part of the solution.

I am making art with that in mind and hoping my art will reflect these ideas.  More importantly, I would like to find an organization that is really doing the work to solve climate change and donate a percentage of the proceeds from my art sales to that organization.  If you have suggestions on which organization I should donate to, please let me know!
